Designing the Future of Domestic Aviation
The aviation industry is on the cusp of a transformation, driven by the rapid development of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), hydrogen, and electric propulsion. However, the challenge remains: how do we create accessible markets for these technologies? NextGen Aviation is set to address this challenge by designing a new domestic air travel system—one that provides new aircraft with local, accessible markets, supports SAF start-ups, and builds a stepping stone towards sustainable fuel hubs.
Unlocking New Market Access for Next-Gen Aircraft
The development of hydrogen, SAF, and electric aircraft has accelerated in recent years, with innovative manufacturers unveiling aircraft that can redefine short-haul and regional air travel. Yet, market penetration remains slow due to a lack of dedicated flight networks and supporting infrastructure.
NextGen Aviation will convene industry leaders to establish a Project Development Taskfinder, mapping out new flight routes, modern airports, and off-grid energy utilities. This is not just about making aviation greener—it’s about building a completely new multi-modal, cost-efficient, and competitive air transport market that can provide a springboard for new aircraft technologies.
A Stepping Stone to Sustainable Fuel Hubs
The success of SAF, hydrogen, and electric aviation will depend on a strong supply chain and refueling infrastructure. By creating regional demand and flight networks, the industry can de-risk SAF production investments and develop supply hubs for future sustainable fuels. These hubs will serve as crucial transition points, enabling SAF start-ups to mature while providing an alternative to traditional fossil fuel supply chains.
A Low-Tax, High-Impact Transport Market
Governments play a pivotal role in enabling next-generation air mobility. Unlike the heavily taxed conventional aviation sector, this new transport market should be incentivised with a low-tax structure to promote adoption and development. A modern, sustainable domestic flight network is not just an environmental initiative—it is an economic enabler, fostering investment, job creation, and regional connectivity.
